Musical Genius

Wes has been practicing violin every day and as you can see it is paying off.... Just kidding. Grandma Kim and Grandpa Paul have a fun violin that plays the song if you just touch the bow to the strings, and Wes loves it. One day recently Grandma took Wes to the park and he wanted to bring his violin. This woman stopped in shock and told her that he was soooooo talented. Pretty funny.

Update on Brielle

I went to the specialist this morning. Brielle's heartbeat is still irregular, likely PAC (Premature Atrial Contractions), which basically means her heart is immature and just firing off irregular contractions. It is common and something that will likely resolve itself by 35 weeks as the heart matures. However, there is a rare chance that it could get worse and cause problems, so I will be going to the dr often. (I see my regular OB on Thurs and go back to the specialist next Thurs). So basically that is the best news we could get about something going wrong with her heart. I am not allowed to have any caffeine or sugar (candy, cake, etc) because that could stimulate her heart and make it worse.

Also, completely unrelated to the heart issues, they discovered today that her umbilical cord is wrapped around the back of her neck (picture a scarf). This is concerning because if she moves so that it wraps completely around it could be fatal, so pray that does not happen. Because of this I have to be very proactive and purposeful in tracking her movements and making sure that it is not wrapped around her neck by her moving. At the same time every day I have to eat something then lay in a quiet place (guess that means Wes' nap time) and make sure she moves at least 10 times in the hour. At least I'll get some rest, but not sure when I'll get stuff done.

Please Pray

Prayers would be appreciated for sweet Brielle, her heartbeat was irregular at my last check up so I went back in today for a followup and it was slightly more irregular so I am going to see a specialist on Tuesday morning. The hope is to see what is causing the irregularity and what that means (is it dangerous, is there something that can be done, etc). On a positive note, there is no pattern to the irregularity. My doctor said he would be more concerned if it was a consistent irregularity, but it is just sort of all over the place. Also, everything else is still normal, including her movements. I will post an update as soon as I know something and greatly appreciate your prayers.

Christmas Break Cabin Trip

After Christmas we were able to make it up to Kurt's family cabin for a few days. It was just the three of us so we didn't go out and do too much. Our main activities were watching movies and going on walks (two of the best things to do at the cabin, in my opinion). Here are some of my favorite pictures from the weekend.

On the way up Kurt was sooo excited to find a Philly's Best, one of all three of our favorites and one of my most common cravings this pregnancy.
Another thing that thrilled Kurt was finding out there was a disk golf course really close to the cabin. They let us walk the course to check it out, which was a nice walk we hadn't done before, and of course Bella and Wes loved running through the woodsy area.
I also snapped a couple of cute pictures on a walk around the streets.

Christmas Eve and Day

Our Christmas activities are a bit of a marathon. For Christmas Eve we head over to my Nana's for our annual homemade lasagna dinner. It is always a meal I look forward to. After dinner we exchange gifts. Next year we will jump from one kiddo to three as my cousin and I are both prego (she is three weeks farther than I am). Wes got really into opening presents this year, so that made Christmas so much more fun this year.

After Nana's we stopped by Kurt's parents for a short bit to visit with his extended family. Then home and off to bed.
Christmas morning was fun, too. We set up the hot wheels track that Wes had gotten from Kurt's parents a few nights before and he loved it. We also opened up a few other presents.
Then we went to Kurt's grandparents for their annual Christmas breakfast. In the afternoon Kurt went out for his Christmas evening we usually go down to Northridge to visit with the Newman side of the family, but we did that Thanksgiving weekend this year so we were able to go to my parents for Christmas dinner. My brother came out from Arizona so it was nice to get to see him for the night. It was actually his first time to meet Wes, so that was special. It was a busy two days but fun and lots of memories.

Disneyland!

On the first day Kurt had off we went to Disneyland. A friend of ours gave us a ticket to Disneyland, so we figured we couldn't pass up the chance to go. It was Wes first time at the park. I was very nervous how he would do because I knew it would be crowded (the person at the gate told me they were expecting 82,000 people that day) but he did amazing. It was one of my favorite days ever.
After our tram ride in we went to Small World. At first Wes seemed a little scared (he covers his ears when he's scared) but after a few moments he got very interested in the ride. When we were done and it was time to get off Kurt noticed that no one was in our lane to take our spot so we were able to stay on and ride it again, which was fun because Wes really enjoyed seeing it again.
Wes did great walking around the park, he stuck near us and never ran off. He even used the standing feature on the back of the stroller when he got tired of walking.
After Small World we went to the Buzz Lightyear ride. Wes was really enthralled in the line because of all of the Buzz stuff to look at but was a little overwhelmed by the ride itself.
After lunch we journeyed to Main Street and got a front row seat for the parade. The parade started at 2 (Wes normally goes down to nap at 1). He enjoyed the parade and got particularly excited when he saw Winnie the Pooh, Woody, Buzz and Santa. After the parade Wes fell asleep in his stroller and slept for about an hour. Once he woke up we ventured through Toon Town and then rode the carousel. Our last stop was the train, which was super crowded. We boarded at Main Street and went around the entire park. After that we were able to catch Buzz and Woody in the second round of the parade and then decided to head out.
On our way up to the car Wes noticed this drinking fountain which he was very excited by. He loves drinking out of water fountains so it was so special that they had one at just the right height for him.
On our way home we stopped at Cheesecake Factory and used a gift card that we had gotten in an early Christmas gift exchange. It was a great dinner and a great day.

Christmas Part 1

On the Wednesday before Christmas we went over to Kurt's parents. For many years they have had a Christmas week tradition of eating a family meal on the floor by the fire and Christmas tree. After dinner Santa came by and then we exchanged gifts with each other. Wes got one of his favorite gifts, Buzz Lightyear. We have never seen him so enamored with a toy.
