Wes' First Week

Here are some pictures from our first week home with Wes. 

The night we brought Wes home getting ready to change his diaper, whew, I remember that was a rough one, he peed all over the place and we were both so nervous... we're starting to get the hang of it.

Thanks to Uncle Kyle and Allie for catching Wes doing the Dr. Evil pose, he loves having his hands at his face and often comes up with new poses (he did this completely on his own)

Our first walk, yesterday we walked to a nearby shopping center with my mom and Nana (and Bella... thanks Mom, I know she's hard to handle). We had lunch and picked up a few necessities at the drug store and then drove home. 

Grandmas and Grandpas

Wes' amazing daddy took the nightshift last night so I could sleep a whole night! He doesn't need to eat for another 45 minutes so I have some more time to post. Wes is so blessed to be surrounded by lots of loving grandparents. I cannot imagine having made it through the last few days without their amazing, sacrificial help. Thank you, thank you, there are no words to express my gratitude for all your help. Here are some snapshots of time spend in their tender love and care:

Hospital Visitors

I actually have a couple spare minutes! Katherine is here cooking dinner for us and Wes is sleeping, so I can put up some more pictures from our last few exciting days. Here are some pictures of our time in the hospital after Wes' delivery.

Happy Birthday Wes

Weston Paul Newman has arrived. He was born on February 21, 2009, weighing in at 8 pounds 15 ounces and 22.5 inches long. It was quite the effort to get him here.... I was induced on Friday the 20th at 2 in the afternoon and labor was on its way. I was able to get an epidural in the middle of the night and by Saturday at 4 in the afternoon  I was ready to push. After three hours of pushing (with, by the way, no pain medication, they stopped the epidural at 4), and an attempt to push with the aide of a vacuum they called it and took me in for a C-section. Shortly thereafter, at 7:44 pm Wes was born. It was definitely scary and hard (Kurt's never heard anyone scream like that), but it was all worth it. Here are some pictures from the hospital of our beautiful little boy.

Just waiting

I've gotten so many texts tonight asking about whats going on.... so I thought I would blog and let everyone know. I had a doctors appointment today and the news is basically no news, Im not dilated at all and I go in on Thursday to check again. I had to do blood work because they are still very concerned about toxemia (my blood pressure was high again today, among other things) and if the results come back with any problems tomorrow then they'll call me right away and talk about induction. They also estimated that Wes is around 9 pounds... but thats just an estimate. In the meantime Im just waiting around hoping he'll come soon. Kurt is up in Fresno. He'll head down the grapevine as soon as I tell him. So, thats the news for now, just waiting. 

Weston's Room

I've finally finished Wes' room, well, sort of... of course there are things I still want to do, but its decorated and more importantly can room a baby at a moments notice. In fact, I even got to go to Babies R Us today and get everything left on the registry that I needed before he comes and I still have gift card money left over so that when I need more stuff, I can go get it without worrying (we have been so blessed by our friends and family). Here are some pictures of the room:

This pictures shows lots of stuff; it shows the storage boxes that were the inspiration for the color/bedding, it shows a beautiful frame Jenny Patey made for us and an elephant I found at World Market that is from Madagascar (both on the top shelf), as well as our day bed with the new pillow covers that Katherine Johnson made for us. It also shows the adorable rocking giraffe that Melissa Ramirez and Dawn Hughes (the girls who threw me my shower) got for us. 

I took this picture to show one of my favorite decorations, the giraffe we found at Pier One, Kurt calls is Geoffry =). 

In this picture you can see the beautiful changing table/dresser (with cute safari picture holders), the glider, a bulletin board with pictures of Wes' friends, a chalk board I got from World Market that came from India and a framed poem that my Nana made for my Mom when she was raising me. 

This is Wes' closet, you can see all the books he got on the top shelf and all his cute little shoes. 

This is the mobile I made for Wes. My mom and I found an old mobile at a consignment shop and I took off the old stuffed animals and added my own stuff, that way it fits the room perfectly but still has the motor to turn around. It has a monkey, lion, giraffe, and elephant. You can see on the back of the monkey that I put polka dot paper on the back of each animal. I also made curly-cues out of zebra and giraffe print. 

Here is Wes' crib, with the bedding that my mom made. It also has a sign above it that Connie Hall, a lifelong family friend, made. She has gotten several requests since making this sign because its so cute! I don't know if you can tell but there is a baby doll in the crib, Kurt's parents bought it for us several months ago to help train Bella. 

 This is a picture of a diaper wreath that Mrs. Costello, a lady from our church, made for me, it is so cute and not only gives us diapers but a bunch of other goodies like bottles and rattles and fun stuff. I will probably take it apart soon since I want to actually put all the goodies to good use.
